Texas’ Premier Vintage Motoring and Luxury Lifestyle Event Adds New Events
April 20-22, 2018 in the Arlington Entertainment District
ARLINGTON, TEXAS (February 20, 2018) – Organizers for the 7th Annual Concours d'Elegance of Texas, one of the state’s largest vintage motoring and luxury lifestyle events, is revving up for an outstanding 2018 program, April 20-22, in Arlington’s Entertainment District. During the special three-day weekend celebration, participants can from flying down a private track in a 2018 Ferrari, participating in a classic car auction with approximately 100 classic cars totally more than $10 million, or appreciating some of the most desired pieces of art on four wheels. Since 2011 the Concours d’Elegance has raised $2 million for charity.
“The 2017 Concours inaugural event in our city was unbelievable!” said Mayor Jeff Williams, City of Arlington. “My family and I walked into the Richard Greene Linear Park that Sunday morning and were completely blown away by the beauty of the vehicles on display. The setting was perfect. With the continued growth of the Entertainment District, this Concours only adds reason for visitors to come to Arlington.”
“Concours d’Elegance” means ‘contest of elegance’ dating back to the 17th Century when the French aristocracy would meet in the parks of Paris during summer weekends and parade in their horse-drawn carriages, each decorated more elegantly than the next. Over time carriages became horseless and the gatherings became competitions among automobile owners. Today most Concours organizations are non-profits dedicated to raising proceeds for their chosen charities and continuing the concept of recognizing automobiles of distinction, beauty, and history.
“Our Concours d’Elegance of Texas is one of the top-tier exhibitions in the country, said Mike Ames, Concours d’Elegance of Texas Chairman. “With the support of the Arlington Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the City of Arlington, and our community partners, we look forward to an even larger exhibition of vehicles as well as the introduction of some new and exciting events at this year’s celebration.”
