ARLINGTON LAUNCHES NEW CULTURAL TOURISM COUNCIL NOW ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS

(Arlington, TX) — The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau (www.arlington.org) announced the formation of the new Arlington Cultural Tourism Council on Thursday.

The newly formed Council is a result of the bureau’s ongoing strategy to support and grow cultural tourism in Arlington. The Arlington Cultural Tourism Council will distribute grants annually to arts and cultural organizations and artists through a competitive grant allocation process for the encouragement, promotion, improvement and application of the arts to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry.

“Combining artistic culture and tourism is of important value to us, not only as individuals, but to our city’s economy.” said Carl Little, Chair of the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council.

A total of $100,000 will be distributed to qualifying organizations. The deadline is February 22nd.

Board members of the new council include Board Chairman Carl Little, Linda Dipert, Susan Gunn, Jerry Lewis, Rudy Martinez, Pam Roach, Robert Shepard and Ex Officio Jay Burress.

“Integration with the goal of uniting tourism and our arts community will generate broader impact,” said Burress, President & CEO of the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This is a tremendous growth opportunity for the city.”
